Quilt It! QNN TV Episode {Mini Origami Dresses and Butterflies}

February 15, 2016

Happy Monday!

About six months ago, I was lucky enough to travel to Salt Lake City to film an episode of Quilt It! The Longarm Quilting Show on QNN TV.

On the episode I filmed with host Jodie Davis, I teach how to make my Laundry Day origami mini quilt, and a mini butterfly quilt similar to the one pictured below.

Eleanor Burns joins Mary to offer her method for making hexagons and triangles. This simple project with no set-in seams and just two templates may just inspire you to make the Flower Power table runner your next project. Guest Stephanie Palmer likes doing origami, which is traditionally folded paper shapes, but she’s taken it a step further and makes folded fabric shapes to add to her finished quilted projects made on a longarm.

QNN TV is the home of thousands of fantastic quilting videos.  It’s literally all the quilting knowledge in the world, right at your fingertips.  I have a subscription, and I really enjoy watching new videos that are released each week.  I’ve learned everything from applique to trapunto by watching QNN videos. I’m particularly excited to watch the new special on Tula Pink, called Tula’s House, that gives an inside look into the designer’s artistic process.

Here are some pictures from my days filming:

I made it through the filming and was surprised to realize how much fun it was.  Turns out I like this video thing!  Jodie Davis made it so easy…

One the filming was over, I got to relax and meet the lovely Becca Bryan, from Bryan House Quilts, author of Modern Rainbow

    Wow how fun – thanks for posting this. I’m embarassed to say I haven’t heard of this so will check it out! I love Creativebug and think a channel focused on quilting would be a great resource. Glad you made a show!
